Synthesizes paleo, observational and modeling evidence on the Wilkes Subglacial Basin: substantial retreat in past warm periods, ongoing grounding-line retreat today, and projected rapid retreat (up to ~1 km yr⁻¹) beyond bedrock pinning points, with a possible multimillennial commitment set this century.
